Sri Lanka Reviews

Solo · January 2026
"The leopard. I will never forget the leopard."

Twenty minutes into the first dawn drive in Yala, our guide stopped the jeep and pointed. A female leopard with a cub, walking across the track 10 metres ahead of us. I barely breathed.

"Kandy to Ella is the most beautiful train journey on Earth."

Four hours through tea estates, waterfalls, and tunnels through cloud. The train rocks you gently. The window is open. You hang your head out and watch Sri Lanka roll past.

"We saw a blue whale. An actual blue whale."

The largest animal ever to have lived on Earth, 30 metres long, breaching 50 metres from our boat off Mirissa. We were both in tears. Nothing prepares you for the scale of it.

Common Questions

Tour FAQs

Sri Lanka has two monsoon seasons affecting different coasts. December to March is ideal for the south and east — Yala, Galle, Mirissa. April to September suits the north and cultural triangle. We design your itinerary around current weather patterns.
Yes — Sri Lanka is a welcoming, safe destination for tourists. Our researcher Priya has lived in Colombo and knows the country intimately. Petty crime is low and violent crime against tourists is extremely rare.
Yes — this is one of Sri Lanka's extraordinary qualities. Yala (leopards) and Mirissa (blue whales) are in the same southern region, easily combined in a single itinerary. Between December and April this double wildlife experience is very reliable.
Yes — we book first-class Expo Rail carriages well in advance. These are the premium seats with large windows and observation platforms. Observation car tickets sell out months ahead during peak season; we handle this as part of your booking.
